Who am I?

Who am I? A question that might seem daunting to even ask yourself. But I find myself constantly doing just that, simply wondering, Who am I? For instance, what do I truly look like in the eyes of a stranger? I also wonder: Who am I in the sense of my personality? Do I even have a personality, or do I just adapt to others?

One person may see me as kind, another may see me as rude. One person may think I’m ugly, while someone else may find me beautiful. But what do I see myself as? Definitely not beautiful, but not necessarily ugly either. Perhaps somewhere in the middle, so no one can accuse me of having a big ego or being too negative and needing to love myself more. To be frank, I quite literally see myself as average.

But maybe, just maybe, there is one person who sees me as so kind that it cancels out the opinion of someone who thinks I’m rude (though I try not to be). Or perhaps there’s one person who finds me beautiful enough to conquer the feeling of someone else thinking I’m ugly. Now, I have no idea who these people might be. They could be fictional or real. I may never know them.

But what I can do is get to know myself more and more. Because you will never truly know who I am. Nor will I. Not the person writing my biography, not even my mother who created me, not even God. And for that reason, life will always be a mystery. It is ours to figure out.

So, though I may never fully know who I am, I do know this: curiosity is a treasure. And there is always more to discover.
